Static security guards and manned guarding

K9 Security Services Ltd welcomes enquiries for static guarding at construction sites, commercial premises, industrial compounds and vacant property. Tell us the duties and working hours you need so we can discuss suitable cover.

For warehouses, logistics yards and industrial premises, see our warehouse and industrial security guarding guidance.

Guarding duties must be clearly defined

A guarding requirement can involve access checks, gatehouse presence, agreed patrols, opening or closing checks and incident reporting. Specify which duties apply to your site and which remain the responsibility of the site manager or another contractor.

Permanent guarding and periodic mobile visits provide different levels of presence. A K9 team may suit some patrol assignments; other work requires a guard able to deal with staff, visitors or deliveries without a dog. The service should follow the particular site requirements.

Planning shifts and handovers

Provide the postcode, desired start date, shift start and finish times, number of days per week and expected duration. Include the site access arrangements, welfare provision, current security and relevant risks. Availability and cover must be confirmed before work is agreed.

Reporting and escalation

Agree the reporting format, patrol or access records, incident contacts and handover arrangements. State whether your team uses an existing reporting system and whether the guarding assignment needs to work alongside CCTV or other site security.

Compliance evidence

Request licensing, vetting, insurance and training evidence relevant to the assignment. Site instructions, induction and risk information should be clear before the first shift. Accreditation and compliance claims require their own supporting evidence.

Pricing the assignment

A quotation depends on the required duties, location, shifts and contract length. Ask for a clear scope, included reporting, additional charges where applicable and terms for changes or cancellations.

Warehouse, industrial and night guarding

For warehouses and logistics sites, specify goods-in activity, gatehouse duties, vehicle movements and access to stock areas. For an industrial compound, identify shared roads, exposed boundaries and equipment left outside working hours. Night guarding should account for authorised workers and deliveries as well as quiet areas.

Questions about static guarding

Does a mobile patrol replace a guard on site?

A scheduled patrol provides a visit; static guarding provides attendance during the contracted shift. Compare the hours needing cover, required access duties and escalation arrangements before choosing.

Can guarding work alongside a K9 team?

Where site conditions permit, different duties can be assigned to static officers and a dog-and-handler team. Agree supervision, safe separation and handovers. Read about security dog handler cover.

What should a guarding quotation include?

Look for the duty specification, staffing and shift pattern, reporting, supervision, price, additional charges and arrangements for changes. Share your requirements through the quotation page.
